Project Description
Competition for the redesign of the Kehlhofplatz in Steckborn, Switzerland.

The competition seeks to find a new layout for this space. The main attraction of this space is a massive Tree centred in the middle. Implementing new greenspace was a way of making the place more enjoyable for people to relax but also to bring nature and ecology into the design consideration. The greenspace gets framed with a bench that transforms into a pattern on the ground, unifying the design and enabling the required parking spaces. Cobblestones around the greenspace naturally reduce the driving speed of cars and signals a calmer atmosphere for this place. A new stair connects the place to the south, which is on a different hight, making transitions easier and providing more access.
